New UN Resident Coordinator to Sierra Leone Presents Credentials

 

The UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, has appointed Mr. David McLachlan-Karr (Australia) as the new UNResident Coordinatorin Sierra Leone.  As the most senior UN official inSierra Leone, Mr. McLachlan-Karr guides the strategic management of the UN System’s development programme in Sierra Leone.

 

Mr. McLachlan-Karr formally presented his credentials as Resident Coordinator to the Minister for Foreign Affairs on 9 June and was received in audience by H.E. the President on 20 June.  The presentations of credentials as Resident Coordinator signals the return of Sierra Leone to a development focused path, following the successful conclusion of the political and peace-keeping mandate of UNIPSIL on 31 March 2014.

 

To discuss the UN’s future role and to present an outline of the development mandate of the UN in Sierra Leone, Mr. McLachlan-Karr will hold a press conference on Wednesday, 25 June 2014.
