SLPP government brings more economic misery on the people by increasing toll gate fees steeply

By Kabs Kanu

Everyday,  the Maada Bio Sierra Leone People’s Party ( SLPP ) government is putting heavy economic burdens around the necks of the Sierra Leonean people.

Acting like a clueless government that no longer has any more solutions  to the nation’s bludgeoning economic problems, the SLPP regime is increasing the prices of everything in the country.

When it is not rice and other staple foods, it is gasoline. When it is not gasoline, it is electricity tariffs. When it is not electricity, it is internet and telephone data. When it is not data, it is college and school fees. When  it is not school fees, it is transportation costs. When it is not transportation, it is the international Airport traveling expenses.  There is no respite for the Sierra Leonean people.

Now, the government has announced steep fare increases for the Hastings Tollgate on the main highway to and from  Freetown. This has drawn bitter protests from Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad as these killer prices increases are perceived as a sign of President Bio and the SLPP government not caring the least for the people.

Sierra Leone’s radical social media political activist, Abdul Will Kamara, who is popularly known as ADEBAYOR is calling for a nationwide uprising against the Maada Bio SLPP Government.

BELOW, A CONCERNED CITIZEN BLOWS HIS MIND

INCREASE IN TOLLGATE TAXES- A RECIPE FOR ADDITIONAL HIGHER INFLATION ON COMMODITY/ FOOFCOST/ FUEL AND OTHER TRANSPORT PRICES. THIS IS UNFAIR AND UNREASONABLE! CATEGORY 5, AN INCREASE FROM NLe183 to NLe700, an increase of 382.5%. CATEGORY 6, AN INCREASE FROM NKe 100 TO NEW 250 i e. 150% These are the categories that will mostly impact cost of living and increase economic suffering on the people. The Ministers of Transport, Finance and Trade must conjointly review these increases as these are UNFAIR AND UNREASONABLE TAXES. TAXATION POLICY IS NOT TO PENALISE OR IMPOVERISH THE PEOPLE BUT TO PROVIDE REVENUE, REASONABLE ENOUGH TO MITIGATE GOVERNMENT SPENDING S IN VARIOUS PUBLIC GOODS!
