SLPP’s 7-Year Energy Collapse: Sierra Leone’s Worst Blackouts in History

By Make Sierra Leone Great

Sierra Leone’s energy crisis is more than five decades old, and blackouts are nothing new—but the SLPP administration has made them worse. The level of power outages in the last seven years is unprecedented. Energy is real; you can’t fake its impact. People feel the suffering day and night.

This administration has proven completely incompetent in managing the nation’s energy sector.

There is only one lasting solution to Sierra Leone’s electricity crisis: hand the entire generation and supply of power to the private sector. The government has neither the resources nor the technical capacity to overhaul the country’s outdated power infrastructure.

Our power lines are older than Sierra Leone’s first president. That alone tells the story.
