The reality facing our nation : The lies, propaganda and deceit from the President’s wife and the SLPP Government

By John Senessie Kalawa

Today, Sierra Leoneans witnessed a moment that perfectly reflects the reality facing our nation.

While First Lady Fatima Bio praised President Julius Maada Bio (who rigged the 2023 elections and harboured the most wanted EU drug lord) )as “the greatest leader in the history of Sierra Leone,” the podium reportedly went dark due to a power outage. The irony could not have been more striking.

For years, this Bio government has repeatedly claimed progress in providing sustainable electricity across the country. Yet power interruptions continue to affect homes, businesses, schools, hospitals, and even major state events. Similar incidents have reportedly occurred during parliamentary proceedings and other official functions.

Many Sierra Leoneans are asking a simple question: How can a government celebrate its achievements in electricity when citizens continue to experience frequent blackouts?

Leadership should be measured not by praise from political allies, but by the daily realities faced by ordinary citizens.

The people deserve reliable electricity, economic opportunities, transparency, and accountability—not political speeches disconnected from their everyday struggles.
