MEANWHILE, the leader of the coup, Col. Mamady Doumbuya, has made more statements to the Guinean people, with regards to the coup :
Dear countrymen,
The gesture we are making today is not a coup d ‘ état but an inaugural action to create the conditions of a state. More specifically a right state. For the political history of our country, marked by violence, injustices and inequalities, proves that in Guinea the will of the strongest has always supplanted the law, and therefore that since independence the authoritarian spirit has triumphed over the spirit Fair and reasonable. And it is because we judge this situation deeply abnormal and unjustifiable that we decided to act, to make a gesture around which we want to mobilize all good consciences to get our country out of the political curse.
Dear countrymen,
Our action is nothing like a coup. It only reflects the legitimate aspiration of people to want to live in an environment where basic human needs can be met; where everyone, without fear, can enjoy life, study, heal themselves, work humbly without being subjected to the constraints of informal networks; where at last power is responsible for its people. Thus we reconcile politics and human. Our gesture is nothing but the expression of our desire for dignity that you certainly share with us. However, it is because respect for our dignity has been flouted since 1958 by a minority confiscating power and economic benefits that we took the initiative, summoned by the sense of duty, to create the conditions for a new beginning politics and social. The action we are doing today is therefore meant to be a first step. An inaugural moment.
Fellow countrymen
We have no prophetic mission. It is not the people of Guinea that we want to save, but Guinea above all else. For a people cannot be saved while the space they live in is hell. We need to put out the fire first. This is the role of firefighter we wanted to take on. Our country is not suffering from a lack of human resources, but it is still a victim of natural resources insecurity. No: Our evils are called lack of political courage; tyranny of money; extradition; lack of collective morality. What we lack and have missed are men able to translate this wealth politically and economically, Guinea. Our problem is not even the absence of democracy, but the lack of vision, political and social value. It is to end this voluntary blindness, which has made the life of Guinean miserable, that we decide today to take our responsibility. In order for us Guineans to finally access lucidity, the rule of law is precisely required.
To Guinea’s external partners, we do not necessarily ask for financial support, but for understanding from you. Before you brandish the idea of state restoration, ask yourself before if there has never been a state in Guinea. Before you raise penalties, ask whether the penalty has still not been the infernal lot of Guineans, from Sékou Touré to Alpha Condé. We, we dispute our unfair condition; we judge our political situation is not acceptable and is condemnable human. So we hope for moral support from you.
We invite all officials of civil society and the various political parties to have an emergency meeting so that we collectively leave this inaugural moment and begin the second stage of organizing Guinean society under the principles of the rule of law. Which will essentially include a reorganization of the army to end its long and tragic politicization.
