The much-talked about ruling All People’s Congress ( APC ) -USA Convention ended yesterday with Mr. Unisa Kanu of Atlanta, Georgia becoming the new Chairman through elections by consultations . The result heralded a power shift from the nation’s capital, Washington-DC to Atlanta, Georgia.
There was jubilation in the hall when the results were announced and women sang their traditional songs in congratulations of the new Chairman and his executive.

In congratulating the new executive, the Secretary General of the APC, Ambassador Osman Yansaneh , who also announced the results , described the USA Branch of the party as the pinnancle of the APC’s diapora branches and he pledged the party’s commitment to continue working with APC-USA to bring more success to the party
He admonished the branch to accept the results and work with the new executive, philosophising that power comes from God and promising others that their own time will come and when it does, nobody will be able to stop them.
He had also stated during the consultative meeting earlier in the day that the USA Branch is very important because it is hub around which the activities of the diaspora radiate. He thanked the Chairman of the outgoing Interim Administration, Mr. Ibrahim Sanfa Kamara, and team for their hard work in instilling peace and for increasing the numbers of members of the Branch.

The Deputy Chairman of the APC and Minister of Mines, Hon. Minkailu Mansaray appealed for the spirit of peace to prevail in APC-USA. He also commended the branch as very important to the APC and he too pledged Freetown’s willingness to work with the branch for the betterment of the party . “Together with you, we can make Sierra Leone great; together with you , we can make Sierra Leone the envy of West Africa, ” he added.
THE HEATED COSULTATIONS
Captain Momodu Alieu Pat-Sowe , Minister of Trade and Industry & All Peoples Congress Regional Chairman (Western Area), stressed the virtues of patience with detractors even within one’s own political party. He said that when people try to antagonize him he tries to win them over through peaceful and friendly methods as he believes that members of the party belong to one family and there should be no rancor among them.
Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the U.S, His Excellency Mr. Bockarie Stevens , thanked the APC-USA for a very successful convention . In congratulating the new executive, Mr. Stevens stressed the fact that there were many challenges ahead and charged them to start preparing immediately.He thanked New Jersey for a job well done to host the convention and the guests.

Mr. Ibrahim Sanfa Kamara, the outgoing Chairman, thanked members of the APC-USA for their cooperation during his tenure and gave some piece of good news that though he met nothing in the kitty, he is leaving the Branch in sound financial footing.
Mr. Alimamy Turay , in his statement, recognized Minister of State (2), Foreign Affairs, Ms. Isata Kabia as home grown , and thanked her for her dedication to the Chapter . He also thanked other members of the branch for helping him stage a successful convention.
