H E AMBASSADOR GOLLEY WITH KOICA PRESIDENT KIM YOUNG-MOK
As Sierra Leone now recovers from the effects of the deadly ebola virus disease outbreak that has afflicted our Country for nearly a year, the efforts of the Government are now being focussed on post ebola recovery with various programmes being put in place to reinvigorate the economy and engaging our international partners in these efforts.
Our newly established Mission in Korea have been very busy engaging various Government institutions in the country highlighting the main priority areas for recovery and development in the wake of successes in the battle against ebola. In recent weeks, our Ambassador in Korea His Excellency Ambassador Omrie Golley has concluded meetings with Korea Eximbank, the Green Climate Fund, the Korea Foundation, and most recently with the President of the Korean International Co operation Agency (KOICA). At a visit to their main offices outside the Korean Capital Seoul on the 9th March, the Ambassador, accompanied by other officials of the Embassy including Minister Plenipotentiary James Sawi and Second Secretary Steven Levey visited the Headquarters of the Korean International Co operation Agency and held discussions with the President of KOICA Ambassador Kim Young-Mok. KOICA was founded as a Government Agency in Korea in 1991, to maximize the effectiveness of their Grant/aid programs for developing countries, by implementing the Korean Government’s grant aid and technical co operation programmes.

At this meeting Ambassador Golley took the opportunity to thank KOICA for its own efforts in assisting Sierra Leone in its battle against Ebola by contributing administrative personnel to the Korean medical teams that have recently been working with other medical staff at the various ebola treatment centres in Freetown. He also underscored the importance to the Government of Sierra Leone of sustained assistance in the health sector particularly.
President Kim Young Mok assured the Ambassador of Korea’s continuing collaboration and assistance with the national development efforts of the Government of Sierra Leone, as the country emerged from the ravages of this deadly virus.
