Exploring the Beauty of Bumbuna: A Journey of Unity and Discovery

Our Saturday Football Family embarked on an unforgettable excursion to this enchanting destination, forging memories that will linger in our hearts for years to come.
Our journey commenced on a crisp Saturday morning, the 17th of February, following our customary training session. Eager and filled with anticipation, we congregated at St. John and set off for Makeni, the gateway to our adventure. As dusk descended, we found respite at the Makeni Plaza, where laughter and camaraderie filled the air, setting the tone for the days ahead. Our accommodations at the Where Else Hotel in Makeni provided a sanctuary of comfort, preparing us for the exhilarating experiences that awaited.
Sunday dawned with the promise of excitement as we faced off against the formidable Wusum Veterans, a match that culminated in a riveting 2-2 draw. Despite the competitive spirit on the field, the bonds of sportsmanship prevailed, fostering a sense of unity among rivals. Following the match, we rejuvenated our spirits with a refreshing swim in the hotel’s cold pool before venturing onward to the Bumbuna Hydro Dam.
Welcomed by the gracious hospitality of the Elegant and hardworking Principal of St. Augustine Secondary School, our group savored the flavors of homegrown cuisine sourced from the bountiful farm of one of our own. Nestled in the luxurious Bumbuna Villa, generously provided by a fellow member, we reveled in the comfort and serenity of our surroundings, forging deeper connections within our football family.
Monday morning brought another round of rigorous training, pushing our limits and fortifying our resolve. Yet, amidst the physical exertion, the allure of Bumbuna beckoned, drawing us to explore its natural wonders. We marveled at the majestic Bumbuna Waterfall, a testament to the awe-inspiring beauty of our homeland, before indulging in a sumptuous lunch that celebrated the rich flavors of Sierra Leonean cuisine.
As we bid farewell to Bumbuna and embarked on our journey back to Freetown, our hearts brimmed with gratitude for the unforgettable experiences shared and the bonds strengthened. Our adventure underscored the importance of local tourism in fostering economic growth and spreading prosperity to all corners of our nation. Moreover, it reignited our appreciation for the natural splendor that surrounds us, inspiring a collective commitment to preserve and protect our precious land.
