*ICASL REFUTES CLAIMS OF PROFESSIONAL MISCONDUCT AGAINST LARA TAYLOR-PEARCE & HER DEPUTY*

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sierra Leone (ICASL), a professional entity charged with the responsibility of regulating the accounting profession in Sierra Leone, as well as promoting and adopting the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) to enhance the quality of financial reporting in the country has refuted claims of professional misconduct against the suspended Auditor General of Sierra Leone, Lara Taylor-Pearce, and her deputy, Mr. Tamba Momoh.
These findings emerged after ICASL was mandated to review the government tribunal report released in July 2024, which questioned the professional conduct of Mrs. Lara Taylor-Pearce and Tamba Momoh.
To ascertain whether the actions of Mrs. Lara Taylor-Pearce and Mr. Tamba Momoh were consistent with the ICASL Code of Ethics and International Standards on Auditing (ISA), the ICASL Committee concluded that both Mrs. Lara Taylor-Pearce and Mr. Tamba Momoh acted in the best interest of the public, upheld professional standards, and adhered to international auditing standards and guidelines. The committee found no instances of professional misconduct or ethical breaches as outlined in the ICASL Code of Ethics.
The ICASL report further confirms that Mrs. Lara Taylor-Pearce and Mr. Tamba Momoh may continue to perform their professional roles as qualified Chartered and Certified Accountants, free from any encumbrances to their names or doubts about their integrity.
