*Another Juntacracy!*
*By Saikujohn Barrie, 03-11-2025
I understand that Mamadi Dumbuya has submitted his candidacy to the Supreme Court in Conakry, Guinea, meaning he will be contesting in the December 2025 elections.
*My honest opinion?*
There’s no reason to waste taxpayers’ money on what amounts to a ritualistic sham of an election.
He knows he won’t lose—especially after driving out all the popular politicians and leaving behind only the bootlickers and lackeys parading as candidates to validate his “victory” come December.
Hypocrisy. Why should a junta conduct elections if its leader intends to run in them?
These staged elections are like referees who rig the match, then join the game pretending to be fair players. It’s a contradiction dressed up as legitimacy.
If you’re a junta leader in uniform and you truly want democracy to return, then don’t contest the elections you’re organizing.
Be a supervisor. Let real politicians compete in elections that are at least somewhat free and fair.
He’s only fooling himself. This is another Juntacracy in Guinea.
Democracy is slowly being wiped out across the continent.
From Cameroon and Ivory Coast to Tanzania, others may soon follow the same pattern—whether through military Juntacracy or its civilian disguise as sham elections.
I rest my case.M
