In a bid to contribute to the country’s post Ebola recovery, the Migration and Development Consultancy headed by a Sierra Leonean Diaspora in the Netherlands and in collaboration with the Network University –Netherlands, the Office of Diaspora Affairs (ODA) and the Institute of Advance Management and Technology (IAMTECH) is providing an e-Learning entrepreneurship programme for entrepreneurs in Sierra Leone.

In an interview with this press, the Managing Director of Migration and Development Consultancy, Abubakarr Bangura who also doubles as the Chairman of the Sierra Leone Central Union in the Netherlands said that the online course would assist fifty prospective entrepreneurs and their recently started businesses in country: to identify opportunities, find a market niche, formulate realistic plans and develop a small or medium size businesses that will create sufficient income for themselves, adding that: “this can also help boost the country’s post Ebola economic development”.
According to the National Coordinator of the programme, Mohamed S. Conteh the purpose of the programme is to provide training for Sierra Leoneans with business ideas so that they will be able to manage their own businesses thereby creating employment for themselves. “ This online entrepreneurship programme is hosted by the Institute of Advance Management and Technology (IAMTECH), and we have completed the first phase of the programme which lasted for a period of one year, the second phase will start on the 16th November and ends in August 2016’’ said Mr. Conteh. He furthered that the e-Learning entrepreneurship programme is a unique blend of distance online coaching and class lessons training programme at the Institute of Advanced Management and Technology.

Meanwhile, the Office of Diaspora affairs (ODA) which is serving as a resource center for the Sierra Leone Diaspora Community has also pledge its commitment in collaborating with Sierra Leoneans in Holland to see that the Country benefit immensely from this entrepreneurship programme. “This is a fantastic initiative coming from our Diaspora constituents, and also this programme is necessary for our post ebola Private sector development in Sierra Leone’’ said Joseph Lansana, Private sector Manager attached to the Office of Diaspora Affairs.
