Sierra Leone’s Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Dr. Kaifala Marah is currently in the Ethiopian city of Addis Ababa, leading Sierra Leone’s delegation to the Third International Conference on Financing for Development which commenced this morning, Monday 13th July, 2015 at the United Nations Conference Centre in Addis Ababa.
The four-day conference aims at discussing mechanisms to mobilize funding to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals Framework and the Paris Climate Treaty. Heads of State and Government, Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Finance, and Climate Negotiators, including 5,000 participants from across the globe are in attendance.
The issues of tax and illicit financial flows, strategic control of the private sector, regulation of multinational corporations and public private partnerships are top on the agenda at the global forum which has just been addressed by the Ethiopian Prime Minister, His Excellency Hailemariam Desalegn and the United Nations Secretary
General, Mr. Ban Ki-Moon.
