Irate Sierra Leone soccer fans attack Leone Stars captain’s home for missing penalty that saved Liberia from elimination

For missing to score the penalty that would have given Sierra Leone a 2-0 victory and put Liberia out of the World Cup on Sunday, irate Sierra Leone soccer fans attacked the home of team captain Umaru Zingaley  Bangura and destroyed windows and doors.

Even the Red Cross was  not spared the wrath or irate Sierra Leonean football fans today.

The Branch Manager of the Sierra Leone Red Cross, Unisa Carew told me that four of his volunteers were injured after they came under attack following the match against Liberia. They stoned their ambulances, accusing them of protecting and taking away Umaru Zaingaylay, the Leone Stars captain who missed the penalty that left the country crashing out of the Qatar World Cup qualification rounds.
