Minister of Employment, Labour, and Social Security Mohamed Rahman Swaray boosts revenue generation in Sierra Leone

Minister of Employment, Labour, and Social Security, Mohamed Rahman Swaray, announced that the ministry collected SLe16,887,845 in work permit fees from January to mid-July 2024, which will be added to Sierra Leoneโ€™s consolidated government fund.

Reflecting on previous years, Swaray noted that SLe8,374,290 was deposited in 2022, with an additional SLe7,136,834 collected domestically.

Swaray emphasized ongoing efforts to modernize work permit processes, revise the Ethical Labour Migration Policy, and launch a nationwide digital job application platform within 90 days.

He highlighted the ministryโ€™s success in resolving industrial disputes and facilitating 1,123 job placements in 2023.

Swaray reaffirmed the ministryโ€™s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and modernization in labour management to foster a favorable environment for employers and employees in Sierra Leone.
