President Jammeh Donates towards Ebola Fight

President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma has received donation of a bank wired transfer to the Ebola Emergency Account in the sum of $500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) from His Excellency the President of the Republic of The Gambia, Shiek Professor Alhaji A.J.J. Jammeh.

The cheque was presented to President Koroma by Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr Samura M.W. Kamara during a meeting yesterday at State House, Freetown. The Minister was accompanied by the Director General of the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Andrew Bangali.

A message from The Gambian Foreign Ministry states that the Government of the Republic of The Gambia wishes to join its Sister Republic in combating this scourge by making a modest contribution of US $500,000 dollars towards Sierra Leone’s fight against this deadly virus.President Koroma described the gesture as timely and a display of the true spirit of African solidarity, saying that in times like these we expect that members of ECOWAS should rally around and show solidarity. “I want to thank President Jammeh, the Government and People of the Republic of The Gambia most sincerely and I will personally call him to express our appreciation.”
