SLPP and Samura Kamara : Who has been the real problem in Sierra Leone ?

*It’s funny the SLPP will accuse Samura Kamara of being part of the problems of Salone and couldn’t do anything to improve things when he was minister of finance, minister of foreign affairs, and bank governor.*

But the same SLPP promoted J.J. to Chief Minister after he wrecked our economy as finance minister. They still keep an incompetent bank governor who brought with him terrible policies leading to a nearly 200% devaluation of our currency in less than five years. They maintain the governor even after publicly confessing that he do not have the capacity to change the terrible direction our economy is heading.

Just a few days ago, the Special Investigation Committee set up by the President to look into the August 10 riot released its finding. Lawrence Leema was named among those accused of gross human rights violations with extrajudicial killings. And when the committee contacted Leema, he refused to answer these accusations. Instead of suspending him till he’s fully investigated, the President still maintains him as our country’s deputy minister of internal affairs.

As we head toward elections, President Bio maintains the same team that wrecked his administration and rendered it one of the worst, if not the worse, we have ever had as a nation. He surrounds himself with people accused of corruption, gross human rights violations, and dozens of incompetent people who do nothing but wreak havoc on citizens.

President Bio had had these people since he came to power. He till keeps them around as he goes around campaigning for a second term, which shows what he meant when he said, “I want to continue what I started.”

*The SLPP says Samura Kamara was part of a system that never worked for the country. Yet, President Bio keeps the worse of such people under his nose. Samura Kamara may have his fair share of being part of our bad times, but in all this, he was not the commander-in-chief. And even when he served in various capacities as minister and bank governor, our economy was at least in a better state than it is now.*
