Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom has declared that 2018 is a decisive moment for Sierra Leoneans.
“We shall know who is who in 2018,” Edward Mohamed Turay declared shortly after been decorated with a Lifetime award organised by Mayeni Disabled Charity at the Hilton Hotel in London.
The award ceremony was un recognition of Sierra Leoneans who have made meaningful contributions towards Sierra Leone.
It was unclear what prompted the High Commissioner to make those remarks during his acceptance speech but observers believe he was apparently sending a warning shot to the political family that was present at the occasion among which was the recent wife of the former flagbearership of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Fatima Bio who was also at the ceremony.
In fact, Turay’s comment came shortly after Fatima had gone up stage to clarify to the audience that her name was actually Fatima Bio after the announcer had introduced her as Fatima Jabbie.
Meanwhile, there was also another award for a staff of the Highest Commission as Mamadu Bai Sesay was honoured with Best Charity Motivation award winner.
