The detention of Lawyer Addy Macauley for expressing his legal opinion is a gross violation of his constitutional rights

SIERRA LEONE HAS BECOME THE NORTH KOREA OF AFRICA:

How can Sierra Leone be the North Korea of Africa, when the two countries are geographically located in different parts of the planet?

At the magnitude with which the West has demonized North Korea, thus no democratic country would like to be associated with that country.

In President George Bush’s State of the Union address on January 29, 2002, less than five months after the 9/11 attacks, he labelled North Korea as part of an Axis of evil

This means NK is a part of a group of states accused of sponsoring terrorism and seeking weapons of mass destruction,

In reality, North Korea is considered one of the Worst Totalitarian States in the world, and it is governed by the Ten Principles for the Establishment of a Monolithic Ideological System, also known as

the “Ten Principles of the One-Ideology System”) which establishes standards for governance and a guide for the behaviours of North Koreans.

In North Korea, you can be jailed for anything except for the possession of Marijuana ( JAMBA). Interesting

No freedom of speech, movement, Association, and even your dress code, what you eat and your lifestyle is strictly controlled by the state

That is exactly the current situation in Sierra Leone and has been like that Since President Bio came to power almost five years ago.

Arbitrary arrest of opposition members has become the order of the day.

And the latest arrest of Ady Macauley is further evidence to show that Sierra Leone is even worse than North Korea because in NK you can plant, smoke and drink Marijuana without going to jail

Lawyer Ady Macauley is the former ACC commissioner and aspiring candidate for the position of National Secretary General of the main opposition APC party

Yesterday 07/1012022 Ady Macauley was invited at the CID to give a statement with regards to his legal opinion on AYV before the August 10 incident.

Lawyer Macauley was just given his expert opinion on what the Sierra Leone constitution says about citizens’ right to assembly even without a permit or clearance from the police.

What is in the Sierra Leone 1991 Constitution?

Section 26. (1)
Except with his consent, no person shall be hindered in the enjoyment of his freedom of assembly and association, that is to say, his right to assemble freely and associate with other persons and in particular to form or belong to any political party, trade unions or other economic, social or professional associations, national or international, for the protection of his interests.
Section 26 (2)
Nothing contained in or done under the authority of any law shall be held to be inconsistent with or in contravention of this section to the extent that the law in question makes provision—

Did lawyer Ady commit an offence based on his opinion mentioned inter alia?

What does the 1991 Sierra Leone Constitution say about Ady’s comment?

Section 25. (1)
“Except with his consent, no person shall be hindered in the enjoyment of his freedom of expression, and for this section, the said freedom includes the freedom to hold opinions…………….”

What lawyer Ady said at AYV is not at variance from what is in the 1991 Sierra Leone constitution. Therefore, detaining him is a violation of his constitutional and human rights

Ady is an experienced lawyer with high standing, and there is no way he would encourage lawlessness, not much talk about inciting people to destroy government properties or kill fellow citizens.

Understandably, Lawyer Ady is a potential National Secretary General of a government in waiting, hence he is seen as a serious threat, so detaining him is part of the grand plan strategy to silence him. Mark my words, this detention would not only embolden him, but he is resilient and ready for the worst-case scenario

Thank God he has barely less than eight months in office, Time don don

Until then stay tuned from
The last man standing ( from Kailahun )
